Timberati’s Weekend Postcards: USA Road Trip, Left Coast to East Coast

This last August my wife and I headed east. We strapped two bikes on top, threw camping gear, computers, clothes, toiletries, Immodium, and homebrew beer in the back, and drove across these United States to the east coast. We recommend this form of travel to everyone; driving across what is usually “flyover country,” is funContinue reading “Timberati’s Weekend Postcards: USA Road Trip, Left Coast to East Coast”

Postcards from Niagara Falls, New York

This weekend’s postcard comes from Niagara Falls in New York. We visited them in August, and it was my first time. You feel the rumble of the falls. The roar of the  water cascading onto the rocks below, while not deafening, is impressive. The falls drain Lake Erie into Lake Ontario. According to http://www.niagarafallslive.com, ThreeContinue reading “Postcards from Niagara Falls, New York”

Postcard from upstate New York

These pictures were snapped in August of this year as we were working our way toward Washington, D.C. We were impressed by the lushness of upstate (northern) New York. Delightful sights. Nice people. Weekend Postcard: Lake County, Clear Lake

What a gorgeous weekend in northern California. The temperature was around 67F (19C for our metric folks). The lilac are in bloom and Mount Konocti looked very photogenic. And, every road invited you to amble along and see what lay around the next bend. How was the climate in your neck of the woods?

Weekend Postcard: San Francisco Bay from the Berkeley Hills

The San Francisco Bay from the Grizzly Peak Road in the Berkeley Hills on a clear day takes one’s breath away–even in black and white. The black and white print allowed for more resolution and contrast than the color image did. One of these days I will have to stop at Tilden Park and rideContinue reading “Weekend Postcard: San Francisco Bay from the Berkeley Hills”

Weekend Postcard – Lake county, Clear Lake

This is the view of eastern end of Clear Lake looking east and north on April 1, 2011; a beautiful spring day. This was my view as I spent the day brewing a batch of Citrazilla India Pale Ale on my back porch. I will have a write-up of that mini-fiasco (complete with recipe) onContinue reading “Weekend Postcard – Lake county, Clear Lake”
