Postcard from the chaparral

Inspired by a nice layout of red poppies in fair England on the Postcards From K site, I thought I would share these pictures of flowers I took amongst the chaparral forest. I suspect many folks don’t think of flowers in the hot, dry chaparral with its manzanita, chamise, and toyon, but they are there in the spring.

  1. Hi Norm
I particularly like the one of the egg yolk coloured flowers against spiky greyish green bits. And thank you for linking back to me in a field in England! I’m off to the seaside soon so will see what my viewfinder chances across there.

Hope you’re having a good weekend.

    1. Those spiky grayish green bits would be Adenostoma fasciculatum, chamise. The flowers are, ermm, uh, I think, maybe, monkey flower(?).

Nice weekend so far. Though, right now, team USA is down 1-0 to Ghana. At home, it’s going to be hot, 92F (33C) today and 96F (36C) tomorrow.
