Weekend Postcard: Sunset on Clear Lake

The sunset of a couple of weeks ago was stunning, and the picture taken with a mobile phone hardly does it justice. Still, the photo gives some idea of the splendor of the area.

The days are getting longer. Spring is on its way.

My name is Norm Benson and my Lowdermilk manuscript is out for beta review. This is the story of Walter and Inez Lowdermilk, an American couple who came to see soil erosion as a threat to civilization. Their pursuit of land conservation carried them from China and the Dust Bowl to Palestine, where their ideas about reclaiming the land helped build the case for the creation of Israel.

  1. That’s lovely, Norm.

Spring is here in London – canoodling squirrels, jays and pigeons, buds swelling on my balcony, a strange big round yellow thing in the sky…

  2. Hi Lexi, it’s very nice of you to stop by.

Canoodling squirrels, you say? Are these the good red-coated squirrels or those upstart Yankee gray squirrels? If they mix you’ll just get umber. Oh dear.

I’ll not touch the buds swelling on your balcony.

As for that big round yellow thing. I think you may be seeing the sun. Nothing to worry about. It should be gone now. Keep me informed. If it comes back tomorrow, we may need to develop some sort of plan. Can’t have the sun cavorting about the British isles, now can we? People might get the vitamin D they need and then where will we be?
